A flat tyre and a stiff quick link are the two repairs most likely to strand you mid-ride — and most riders carry the tool for one but not the other. The NAC Crab Claw is both: two bicycle tyre levers that snap together into a pair of chain quick link pliers, with a valve deflator pin built into the handle. Looking for a tyre lever and master link tool that fits in a jersey pocket? This is one tool doing the work of two, at a weight you'll forget you're carrying.

Best For

Road, MTB, gravel and commuter riders who carry a saddle bag or pocket repair kit — and anyone who has tried to reinstall an 11- or 12-speed quick link with bare fingers on the roadside.

Key Features

  • Three tools in one — a pair of bicycle tyre levers that snap together into chain quick link pliers, with a valve deflator pin in the handle, so one tool covers punctures, chain removal and letting the air down.
  • Clean quick link operation — the jaws grip both pins of the master link and squeeze them open or closed in one motion, instead of pinching with your fingers, twisting the chain, or improvising with a spoke.
  • Built-in valve deflator pin — releases air fully before you unseat a bead, and lets you drop tubeless pressure on the trail without guessing.
  • Contoured lever tip — slides between tyre and rim without nipping the tube, and hooks onto a spoke to hold position while you work the second lever around.
  • Carry it everywhere — flat profile fits a jersey pocket, saddle bag or top tube bag, so the tool is on the ride with you rather than in the workshop.

What You'll Actually Use It For

Roadside punctures are the obvious one. The quick link jaws earn their place the rest of the time: taking the chain off for a proper degrease rather than scrubbing it on the bike, swapping a worn chain without wrestling the link, and splitting the chain to pack a bike into a travel bag or boot.

Worth knowing what this is not — it is not a chain breaker. It opens and closes a quick link, which is how most modern chains are joined. If your chain has no quick link, you'll still need a chain tool to split it, and a quick link to rejoin it afterwards.

Quick Link Compatibility

The jaws fit every common quick link, because the two pins sit one chain pitch apart on all of them regardless of speed. The Crab Claw opens 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12-speed quick links from SRAM (PowerLock), Shimano (SM-CN900, SM-CN910), KMC (Missing Link), Connex, YBN and TAYA — on MTB, road, gravel, hybrid and commuter drivetrains, with tubes or tubeless.

Reusing a link is down to the link, not the tool. KMC Missing Link and Connex links are built to be opened and closed repeatedly. SRAM rates PowerLock as one-time-use and Shimano rates its quick links the same way, so fit a fresh link when you rejoin the chain rather than reusing the old one — worth carrying a spare alongside the tool.

Campagnolo 11 and 12-speed chains join with a permanent connecting pin and have no quick link, so those need a Campagnolo-specific tool.

What's in the Box

2 × tyre levers that combine into the chain quick link tool. The valve deflator pin is integrated — nothing separate to lose.

How to Use

As tyre levers: press the deflator pin into the valve to release all air, hook the first lever under the bead and clip it to a spoke, then work the second lever around the rim to lift the tyre off.

As quick link pliers: snap the two levers together, seat the jaws over both pins of the quick link, and squeeze to release. To close, seat the link in the chain and reverse the grip until it clicks home, then pedal under load to lock it.

The two repairs that end rides, in one tool that weighs nothing. Free shipping on orders above ₹899.

Pair it with Instant Seal Tyre Sealant for punctures you can fix without removing the tyre at all, and Ultra Glide Ceramic Dry Chain Lube to re-lube once the chain is back on.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this work with my 12-speed chain?
Yes. The two pins on a quick link sit one chain pitch apart on every speed, so the jaws fit 6 through 12-speed links — including SRAM PowerLock, Shimano SM-CN900 and SM-CN910, KMC Missing Link, Connex, YBN and TAYA.
Can I reuse my quick link after opening it?
That depends on the link, not the tool. KMC Missing Link and Connex links are built to be opened and closed repeatedly. SRAM rates PowerLock as one-time-use and Shimano rates its quick links the same way, so fit a fresh link when you rejoin the chain. Worth carrying a spare alongside the tool.
Is this a chain breaker?
No. It opens and closes a quick link, which is how most modern chains are joined. If your chain has no quick link, you will still need a separate chain tool to split it and a quick link to rejoin it afterwards.
Does it work with Campagnolo chains?
No. Campagnolo 11 and 12-speed chains join with a permanent connecting pin rather than a quick link, so they need a Campagnolo-specific tool instead.
Will the levers scratch my rims or pinch the tube?
No. The levers are moulded composite with a contoured tip, so they slide between tyre and rim without marking alloy or carbon, and without nipping the tube. The hook lets you clip the first lever to a spoke while you work the second one around.
What is the valve pin for?
It releases air from the valve — useful for emptying a tyre fully before you unseat the bead, and for dropping tubeless pressure precisely when you are setting up on the trail.
