The best place to carry weight on a bicycle is low and centred — close to the bike's centre of gravity, where extra mass has the least effect on handling and balance. That's exactly where the NAC 959XL Frame Bag lives. Designed to mount within the main triangle of your frame, directly between the top tube, down tube, and seat tube, the 959XL turns the largest empty space on your bike into a clean, aerodynamic, organised storage solution that works for trail riding, bikepacking, endurance events, and daily commuting alike.

The two-compartment layout is what makes the 959XL particularly practical. The larger main compartment gives you room for a spare tube, multi-tool, tyre levers, a CO₂ inflator, snack bars, and even a compact action camera — all packed and unpacked quickly without digging. The smaller front pocket is sized for items you reach for while moving — your phone, a card, your keys, an energy gel — so you're not unpacking the entire bag at a traffic light or mid-trail. At 167g, the bag itself adds almost nothing to your bike's weight.

Key Features

  • 1,000ml across two compartments — the large main compartment handles tools, spare tubes, nutrition, and action cameras, while the front pocket keeps keys, cards, and quick-access items within reach.
  • Mount anywhere — loops on all four sides accept the four included Velcro straps, so you can mount it on the main triangle, top tube, downtube, or seat tube.
  • Water-resistant build — weatherproof outer fabric and reinforced stitching protect your contents from rain, road spray, and trail splatter.
  • Frame-safe zips — zip runners tuck away inside protective flaps so the metal pull never scratches your frame paint.
  • Slim, aerodynamic profile — 216mm × 64mm × 76mm sits low against the frame without bulging, catching wind, or interfering with pedalling.
  • Featherweight — just 167g for a full litre of organised storage.
  • Genuinely versatile — works as a main triangle bag, top tube bag, or downtube bag depending on your frame geometry.
  • Universal fit — compatible with MTBs, road bikes, gravel bikes, hybrid cycles, and touring bicycles.

Installation

Fitting the 959XL takes about three minutes with no tools required:

  1. Thread the four Velcro straps through the loops on the sides of the bag that will sit against the frame.
  2. Position the bag and check that no brake or shift cables run under any strap path.
  3. Fasten the straps one at a time, pulling each snug so the bag sits flat against the frame.
  4. Spin the cranks slowly to confirm knee clearance through the full pedal stroke.
  5. Give the bag a firm shake — it should have zero swing or rotation before you ride.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will it fit inside my frame's main triangle?
The 959XL is sized to fit most road, gravel, and MTB main triangles — its 216mm length suits compact and medium frames. For very small frames (44-48cm road) or full-suspension MTBs with tight triangles, please check your frame triangle dimensions.
What can I carry in it?
1 litre of storage across two compartments — easily a spare tube, multi-tool, tyre levers, CO2 inflator, energy bars, action camera, phone, wallet, keys, and small ride essentials.
How well does it handle the monsoon?
The water-resistant fabric and reinforced stitching protect contents from rain and road spray during typical riding. For prolonged heavy monsoon downpours, we recommend a small dry bag for electronics inside.
959XL vs Xplore — which frame bag size should I buy?
The 959XL (1L) is for day rides, commuting, and tools-plus-snacks with a slim profile. The Xplore (1.9L) is for bikepacking and multi-day trips with clothing layers. Many tourers end up owning both.
Does a frame bag affect the bike's handling or balance?
Done right, it improves it. The main triangle is the best place to carry weight — low and centred between the wheels. Versus a backpack or rear rack, a loaded frame bag makes the bike feel more planted.
