Chain slap — the chain hammering against your chainstay over every bump — chips paint, scratches the frame, and makes an irritating rattle on every ride. The NAC Chain Stay Protector stops it at the source. Installation takes 5–10 minutes and needs no special tools. Here's exactly how to do it.
What's in the box

- 3 × zip ties
Before you start
Make sure the chainstay is completely clean and free of dirt, oil, water, or grease — adhesive only bonds properly to a clean, dry surface. A quick wipe with a clean cloth and a little soapy water (then fully dried) is enough. One important note: handle the adhesive side as little as possible; frequent contact with the gum before installation reduces its stickiness.
Installation steps
- Clean the chainstay. Remove all dirt, oil, water, and grease, then let it dry fully.
- Peel off the white transfer paper carefully. The adhesive gum can be soft before installation, so peel slowly and avoid touching it.
- Position and press. Lay the protector along the drive-side chainstay where the chain makes contact, then apply firm pressure across the whole surface — including from the sides — so the adhesive beds in evenly.
- Fasten the zip ties. Secure the protector in place with the three included zip ties. You can remove them after 2 weeks, once the adhesive has fully cured.
Aftercare
Clean the protector with water and mild soap only — avoid harsh chemicals or detergents. That's it: your frame is protected and your ride just got noticeably quieter.
